Someone else won the 250 million dollar jackpot. Sigh. I know it's silly of me to even think about winning – yet, I like to imagine being able to do things that in reality are likely forever beyond my means, thinking on the larger scale.
Of course, I've also thought of publishing my own picture books, paying off my debts, buying cars for all my friends and indulging a lot of personal desires – but that still leaves the other $245 million to apply constructively.
I've also thought of buying up the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and turning it into a cooperative venture to be run by the active participants, the performers and shop-keepers themselves. This time I was thinking about establishing a Group Health plan for artists, writers, musicians, etc., who can't ordinarily afford health coverage. In the past I've thought about funding technologies that I'd most like to see realized: longevity treatments, alternative energy sources, nano-tech that will build sufficient housing for everyone, cheaply and easily.
What kinds of technological developments would you invest in if you had the means?
