The geese are massing in Powderhorn Park: dozens of them: circling in the air, honking as they glide in to the water. There are also dozens of crows, all with something to say. It's amazingly noisy for a normally quiet park.
I was glad to go for a walk there this morning, stopping to feed the ducks and geese. It's been a long time since I've had any corn to bring for them, but I made a special stop for it today. It's that time of year when the wild birds need to fuel up for the trek south. A pair of young kids joined me, tossing corn that I gave them, picking up fallen kernals to throw again, and intimidating the birds from coming as close as they usually do.
