I was back in the Automotive section of the local Target store. I was standing for a moment in utter darkness, wondering if I'd have to grope my way back to the front of the store, and whether I'd have to be wary of mischief makers ready to take advantage of the situation; and then some emergency back-up lights came on.
It was enough to see my way, and even enough that I took my time to browse the titles in the DVD section, until some store employees came along and said we'd have to head to the check-out area (despite the fact that none of the registers were working.) While standing around there I overheard someone on a walkie-talkie saying that people digging up a stump at the Sheraton had cut into a power line. It wasn't actually long before the registers were working again and I could check out with a new tire gauge and a few other small items.
