The heat is gone again. Sometime yesterday it went out. I bundled on the blankets overnight, and called the landlady first thing this morning. She said she'd come to look at it, but I was out for long stretches (having meals and going over my manuscript in warmer places) so I don't know whethr she came by, but I do know that there's still no heat from the furnace.
During one of my stretches at home I peeled, cored and sliced nine large Fuji apples, which are now shrinking in the dehydrator. The dehydrator not only adds a little warmth to the air, but it's a humid apple-scented warmth. I should dehydrate apples every cold, dry winter day.
Ask me if I can eat nine apples at a sitting and I'd have to say yes, but I'd be talking about the dehydrated ones, sprinklexd with cinnamon, and I'd still make myself save half for tomorrow.
