Is four cloves (not bulbs) of garlic too much? I don't think so; I'm using the big kettle, making soup base with part of the turkey breast I roasted the other day, and its drippings, sea salt, garlic pepper, a bunch of scallions and the aforementioned cloves.
From that I plan to make a pot of lentil soup and a pot of turkey-barley-vegetable. (Maybe I'll split it three ways and make some split-pea soup, too. (?)) I really like hot soups in this cold weather.
I've been on a Happy Homemaker kick this morning: washing all the dishes and the stove-top, and taking out all the trash and recycling - if I'm going to cook I want to do it in a clean kitchen. There's something very pleasant about hanging out in a clean, warm kitchen, chopping scallions and mincing garlic while it's all ice, snow and bitter cold outdoors. (All this garlic displeases the cats, though; I should be chopping fish!)
