I'm scheduled to be on three panels at this year's ConVergence:
Thu 9:30pm - 10:30pm A3
Songwriting and Filking
In addition to her numerous novels, Mercedes Lackey is an accomplished song-writer. Come and learn about her abilities in music composition as well as the local filking scene.
Justin Hartley, Beth Kinderman, Mercedes Lackey, Amanda Newman, Laramie Sasseville, Dave Stagner
Sat 11:00am - 12:00pm
High Level Creativity
Fandom tends to attract those with imaginations. A high level of creativity is prevalent in everything from writing, art and costuming, to designing game campaigns for your friends. Come and discuss these unique traits for both individuals and as a community in general.
Holly Day, Paula Fleming, Laramie Sasseville, Gordon Smuder, Dave Walbridge, Anna Waltz
Sat 9:30pm - 10:30pm A8
Overuse of Iconic Sci-Fi and Fantasy Imagery?
Just how many prints of unicorns, fairies, and dragons do we need? What are some underused imagery you'd like to see drawings or paintings of instead?
Chris Pasquarette, Laramie Sasseville
I'm excited about the Songwriting and Filking panel, and am plotting with local filkers to instigate a filk circle immediately following the Thursday night panel.
I'm also looking forward to the 'High Level Creativity' panel. I'm interested in a broad range of creative activities and have some thoughts about what the creative process has in common among them all, and the differences in process among the different arts - and am interested in what my fellow panelists think on the subject.
And it will be nice to have a chance to talk about the other possibilities for fantastic imagery than the usual icons of the genre - though it looks like we could use a few more panelists there.
