Here are samples of my latest work. (Click for larger views). The first is called Death's Sweetie-Pie. It uses a fake-leather 'ribbon' studded with steel grommets and fimo Valentine candy-hearts.



Below is a batch of the Mini-Marks, as yet unnamed. Most of these use bone, glass and/or wood, but that black & white one uses onyx.



During a recent conversation with 7ivy7 we were talking about parenting styles, and I was reminded of my mother's tendency to see something that I've done and to immediately make suggestions for new and 'better' ways to go with it. i.e.: she sees the fabulous bookmarks and suggests that I make belts, or scarves or jewelry. After the conversation I realized why this annoys me so much.

I know she means well, but it's all evidence that she just doesn't get it. To me, bookmarks are magic! They mark the place where the world of the story intersects the world in which I live, the place where the world of the mind meets the world of the senses. To me, this place is marvelous and magical and very, very cool. This is what I get passionate about. Belts and scarves and jewelry are all beside the point. The magic place should be honored, celebrated, made a focus of attention. That is all.
