Today I received an email that began:
There really is a NY Arts Magazine, in print and online. I went to the website and contacted the art director there, and verified that the sender of the email really worked for them. That's when the moment of hope occurred.
But then I looked at the attached contract and they want ME to pay THEM $975 to be featured. Gales of laughter. If I had that much money I'd use it to pay some bills.
"I’ve much enjoyed viewing your works online just now and I would very much
like to work with you.
As an artist representative, publicist and curator, I’m currently working
on selecting artists to be featured in the NY Arts Magazine’s Tips & Picks
section, that I have the privilege of composing. Each artist will have
their name, website address and one color image of their work along with
up to 70 words of text about the work, included in this feature..."
