I've finally gotten a couple reviews on Amazon for 'Spirited!' This one from C.Rowe, just in this morning:
Spirited! by Naomi Stone is the enchanting story of Amelia, an artist with a painful past who inadvertently becomes the master of an ancient djinni and at the same time releases a succubus-like demon known as a lilit into modern-day Minneapolis. The lilit wreaks havoc on the lives of Amelia's friends and she must set matters right, all while coming to terms with her power over, and growing feelings for the djinni. Stone masterfully infuses the djinni, Al-Marid, with eloquent dialogue and lofty ways of thinking that make him entirely believable as an ancient creature, impervious to time and space. This creates a delightful contrast against the straightforward, Midwestern speech of Amelia and her friends. And although the story is set in our world, Stone introduces intriguing ideas about time and parallel realities that would be worth revisiting in future books. These idea are interesting, but easy to follow and do not distract from the central love story. The chemistry between Amelia and Al-Marid is compelling and enjoyable to watch unfold. It is not only their natures and circumstances that stand in the way of their love, but also their personalities, which adds another dimension to the romantic tension that builds between them. Throughout the whole story, Stone's writing is absolutely beautiful, and the pages fly by. This one is a must-read!
