Current Preoccupations

Netflix: Point Pleasant; I somehow missed this when it originally aired. Holding my interest so far, but I'm growing annoyed with the direction it's taking. Daughter of the devil is no longer interesting if she gives up the struggle to overcome her dark side.

Reading: I just finished the second in James Patterson's Maximum Ride series. I didn't realize at first that this was supposed to be teen fiction. The complex adult relationship stuff has been pared down, but it has all the narrative urgency of Patterson's adult fare. And: kids with wings! How cool is that? Before that it was Julet Marillier's Wolfskin and Foxmask Wow! I wish I could write so well! Yesterday I began Kage Baker's Garden of Iden: loving it so far. I've caught a few short stories from this universe: wonderfully imaginative!

Other entertainment: I went to the MOA on Friday and saw Superman Returns; it lasted longer than I liked, but offered truly dire threats from villain Lex, and interesting developments in the Lois department.

Household chores: the usual; I feel virtuous. The lawn is mown. I'm contemplating dying my purple slacks black, and also a blouse that I think I'd wear more often if it weren't ecru.

My Career: I've crossed a few more items off my Prep for CONvergence list. I'm feeling frustrated in doing a practice set up of my dealer display, as the grids I ordered haven't yet arrived. (Bites nails: I hope they get here in time for the convention!)

The dye job isn't what I hoped: not black, just a darker shade of purple. At least that tones down the vibrance a notch. I may have to try this again, with a double dose of the dye.

What did you use? Rit isn't worth much; you might want to check the Internet.

I used Dylon; the packet said it was good for half a pound of fabric, though, and I think my slacks probably have more like a full pound of fabric (only about 85% cotton, too. The slacks are a few shades darker, so it may work if I try again with 2-3 packets of the dye. At the very least they'll get darker still. :)
