A friend recently posted asking how people think they might fare in combat with a kangaroo. I thought I'd do poorly in unarmed combat.
 

On further reflection, I think I might do well if armed with anything from a spear or scimitar to a hand gun, but I'd feel very badly about the damage any of those weapons would do to the poor kangaroo. (!)
 

Therefore, I'm coming out firmly opposed to initiating any combat with a kangaroo (and other animals that pose enough of a threat that I'd have to damage them in order to defend myself therefrom.) I'm not a vegetarian, but neither am I inclined to kill anything smarter than a chicken or a fish.

I have decided that a net makes a good defensive armament in the face of creatures (like geese and swans) who can't overwhelm me through sheer size and weight.
