I feel like I am doing too much waiting lately. I'm trying to use my time well, making preparations, doing research, so that I will be ready for action when the time comes.

I'm waiting for the day when I will have the money to finance classes, conventions, art fairs, etc.

I'm waiting to hear back from various friends.

I'm waiting for interest in my artistic portfolios or job resumes.

I'm waiting to hear back from the Big Brother, Big Sister organization.

I'm waiting to be in a position to do more to help the causes I believe in.

I'm waiting for Fate: I'm waiting for things that can't be rushed, and the maturation of seeds that have already been planted, for balls in other people's courts.

I hate waiting.

My upstairs neighbor was just at the door to let me know that he'd just been mugged on the corner right outside our duplex. His bank card was stolen. Police have been notified.

He wasn't seriously hurt, but punches were exchanged. One of the men did some damage to his car as well. I wonder if it's the same party who broke my car's window last May. Apparently one of the perpetrators lives in the neighborhood.

Both of us are concerned about his roommate's habit of leaving the side entrance unlocked. It doesn't let directly into either unit, but who wants to find strange muggers in the basement?

Also: The roommate witnessed a young black woman being severely beaten by a group of black men recently, outside the Walmart only a couple blocks away.
