The good news is that I just heard back from Roger Gerberding, the art director for TOTU (Tales of the Unanticipated), who is interested in using my artwork for the publication, and may have some assignments for me come spring!
Bad news: more car troubles. All the locks on my car froze up. I think rain got into the works and iced over when the weather turned colder. I couldn’t get into the vehicle at all on Friday evening and had to cancel plans to go out. I tried everything I could think of (including a small butane torch) trying to unfreeze the locks. Finally, my upstairs neighbor, Sarah climbed in through the hatchback and managed to get into the front seat and start the engine to warm up the car. (I wasn’t quite limber enough to manage it myself.) Then she pushed from the inside and I pried with a screwdriver from the outside and we finally got the driver’s side door open – but now it won’t close again! (I have to wire it shut to keep it from flying open as I drive.)
Anyhow, even with the broken door I was glad to have the car, which enabled me to get over to help Nate & Louie set up their website on Sunday afternoon, and to visit Carolyn on Sunday morning.
The other good news: My ASFA membership finally arrived! (Association of SF Artists). This includes a directory with a lot of art directors listed, and a gallery on their website! (I’ve already prepared some art and a statement for this and will try to get it uploaded as soon as possible.)
