laramie at 09:07am on 16/06/2006This morning's walk was pleasant, though it's already warm and muggy out. There are a lot of gardeners in my neighborhood, and I enjoy the chance to admire trailing roses and beds of oriental lilies that I don't have to plant or care for myself.
My friend, Sam (of LeSam's Soups and Catering) has recently started working with the Big Brother Big Sister organization. I've been thinking about it, and decided that I'd enjoy being a mentor to some youngster, and, apparently, there are a lot of kids (many with a parent who's incarcerated) who could benefit from one-to-one friendships with adults. I may not be as much of an established professional as I'd like to be, but I have some values that would be a good influence, and most kids like a chance to learn a bit about arts and crafts if nothing else. So I'm looking into participating in the program.
