I'm back. This Marscon for me consisted of a lot of time in the Dealer's room, quick forays to the Con Suite and a couple sessions of filk singing. That may not sound like much but it was some fun.

I liked my neighbors in the Dealer's room: a family selling various types of sharp pointy things. They were very pleasant about keeping an eye on my table when I had to make comfort-runs, and were complimentary about my mandolin-play during one slow afternoon.

By all reports this was a much slower Marscon than usual. Apparently a lot of out-of-town attendees never made it to the convention at all, due to the severe weather that preceded the event. A lot of the dealers remarked on how slow things were. So I probably did well in finding new homes for five of the bookmarks.

I did a lot of reading while it was being slow: Amelia Peabody in Guardian of the Horizon.

Friday night, after all the shoveling, the hauling of gear and seven hours of minding my table I didn't last very long at filking. Saturday night I did better, staying up long enough for a couple full hours of singing before driving home again.

Erin also noted the low level of bidding in the art show, selling four prints from the art show and two from the print shop. None went for more than the minimum bid, which Erin said seemed to be pretty common. Erin did get an order too, so she did o.k. overall.

Yes; I spoke to one of the people running art show, who told me that they might not even hold an auction since almost everything was going for 'Quick Sale' prices.

Five bookmarks, not bad!

Were there many people for filking? I thought about going for the filk, but I had to work yesterday, so it seemed like too much of a hassle. The good news is I've been getting things done at home.

We got some new people stopping in, and Jesse Berg was there for a while, plus Sandman, Rich and your Dad. You were missed!
