Here in Wash DC, it's colder than normal (as noted above) and raining. Better weather in Mpls, but that's not the annoying part: The cold and rain put a major damper on the Cherry Blossoms in the city. This is a Big Deal in DC, with events and concerts. The show went on, but without the scenic backdrop.

That's too bad. Were the blossoms just delayed in blooming, or were they killed by late frost?

I'm hoping the lilacs come in okay here. I wasn't seeing buds yet when this last freeze came through.

The blossoms came in on time, but they were dead on the trees by Easter. It's always hard to predict when the blossoms will be at their best, so the Festival goes on anyway.

As above. When I got there (4/13) the blossoms were mostly gone and the remaining were sad. We passed several big Cherry Blossom Festival events in DC, in the rain and cold, with few blossoms to appreciate. Ah, transitory beauty.

A few were still around, brightening an otherwise gray trip. Not, alas, enough.
