laramie at 01:06am on 17/12/2007Saturday evening was our monthly filk circle, held not on the usual 4th Saturday, but the 3rd, so as to avoid conflict with next weekend's annual caroling party at the Tatge-Kahns. The filk circle was fun. We sang a lot of seasonal songs in addition to the filk favorites. For the dinner portion of the evening we were joined by a couple of tiny neighbor boys while their father hunted for their dog, which had run off. It amazed me to be reminded that people come in sizes so small.
This evening (Sunday) I went out a-wassailing with some of the folk from ProDea. It was fun to sing, of course, and also fun to be offered whiskey, brandy and cider. The holiday spirit is finally getting to me. After returning from the wassailing I decided to write a holiday letter after all, and began by going back through my LJ to review the events of the past year.
Day by day it can seem kind of dull, with the emphasis on the mundane chores that have been accomplished, but looking back over the year as a whole I see more clearly how many social events (parties and conventions and conferences, meetings and classes) have been a part of my life, and how persistently I've been working on the artistic activities that are so important to me.
