Finally! Some pictures of the first batch of slim-line book garters. These have mostly been given out as presents over the holidays, but I thought you might enjoy seeing them.

Close ups! (if you click the thumbnail image).

A bookmark reminds us of the place where everyday life and the world of our senses meet the life of abstract thought and the imagination.

A bookmark can be a scrap of paper. While you know that a scrap of paper could do the same job, when a bookmark is fabulous you can then see the relationship between Things-of-the-world and Story in a new light. The story is as much beyond the fabulous thing as it is beyond the scrap. The story is even more magical than you might have realized. The distinction between story and world is emphasized.

A fabulous bookmark that dangles provocatively across the reader’s arm reminds us of the allure of the world of our own senses – better than waiting for a kick in the pants.

While reading, the colors and textures of the marker are aids to the imagination that is called upon to give life to the story.

A bookmark can live in a book without being part of the book; yet it could be described in words and become part of the story by reference.

A bookmark could have a (short) story printed on its surfaces and become a literal story within a story.

A bookmark that is a work of art tells a story about its own essence through color and texture and material and is also a figurative story within a story.
